Hello darlings!
If you have a bathroom that is a bit on the small side like I do, then it can be tricky to know what to do with it. In all honesty, your options are a bit more limited with a small bathroom. You can only move things around to a certain point because of the dimensions of the room. But that doesn’t mean that your bathroom can’t look super stylish and that you can’t have it look just as you want it to. So here are my tips for designing and styling a small bathroom. You need to make sure you make the most of the space to get the most from it.
Think About Practicality
For any bathroom, not just a small one, you need to think about the practicality of it all. If you currently have carpet in the bathroom, then can it be removed? It really isn’t the most practical to have on the flooring. You could think about getting tiles, as well as something like underfloor heating. Because, at the end of the day, just having tiles aren’t the most warm or comfortable on your feet.
Consider the Room’s Usage
Will you be using the bathroom as literally a space to get washed and have a shower? Or will you be looking to make a bit more of the space, and use it as a place to pamper and relax? If you want to use it as a space to pamper, then having something like a vanity unit is going to be the best idea, as well as a stylish mirror. The lighting could be an important factor too. So think about what you will be using the room for, as you might need to adjust things accordingly.
Bath versus Shower
The bath is an important factor to consider, especially in a smaller bathroom. Will you even have a bath or will you just go for more of a wetroom? The size of the room could limit the design that you choose. But just take your time and look for bathroom suites to suit any bathroom and you’ll be sure to find something that will work for you. It could be that a p-shaped bath might be out for you, depending on the location of the sink and toilet. So just take your time to plan it all out, and you’ll find something that will help you to make the most of the space.
Lighting and Mirrors
In a small room, not just bathrooms, the lighting plays a big part in making the room feel bigger than it actually is. So that is an important factor to consider. Can you add in some extra spotlights to add some sparkle to the room? Or how about lights framing the mirror or cabinet? Adding mirrors is a great way to add some extra sparkle, and give the illusion of a room being larger than it actually is. So having more than one mirror in the house is a good idea for small bathrooms especially.
