I haven't posted a new amigurumi crochet pattern in the blog for a while. I've been really busy with many other projects but never forget my love for amigurumis. A while ago I discovered a cute little yarn shop in walking distance from my home and they offered me some cotton yarn. I used this yarn to make a doll and my daughter named her Athena. Read below to find the Athena amigurumi doll free crochet pattern and make your own!
Athena is a modern girl in overall shorts and teal hair. She's outgoing and friendly, extremely smart and fun to be around. She loves to read, swim and hang upside down the horizondal bar in the playground. Oh! She loves to eat spaghetti too!

Assembly
Using the long tails of yarn you've left, sew the head on the neck (also see notes). Place the hair of the head and sew them in place around. Place the braid in place, hold it with pins and sew it around the hair and head too. In the back of the head cut the excess yarn, tack it in and sew it in place with small stitches.
Place the suspenders in the front and sew them on Rnd 39 of the bottom. Turn the doll around and make an "x" with the suspenders and sew them in the back side too. I left 8 stiches between the suspenders in the front and the back.
Sew the hands on Rnd 47 of the torso to match the pink yarn. Secure and cut all ends. You are done!!!

Athena doll pattern notes
- This is an easy to intemediate pattern. If you have any problems with stitches you can find many great tutorials on youtube. Please feel free to reach out to me and I can help you the best that I can.
- You need to stuff the torso and neck of the doll really firmly to keep the head straight since it's heavy. If you crochet loosely then you are in danger of the stuffing getting out of the crochet fabric. In that case I strongly advice you to use some kind of mechanical support for the head. You can use wire, a wooden rod or even the empty plastic shell of a bic pen.
- You might find it a bit hard to crochet this yarn with a B hook since it's kind of thick. I prefer it that way to create a tighter crochet fabric, but you can go up half a size of the hook if you'd like.
