Stuffed tomato amigurumi free pattern. You can't be Greek and not like Gemista - a traditional dish of stuffed vegetables, mainly tomatoes. I love this dish which incidentaly is also vegan and my mom tought me how to cook. I've shared the vegan recipe for the stuffed tomatoes Greek gemista here on the blog so you can make it yourself! So my kids love to help me cook. They really ask for it every time I go in the kitchen to cook. I love to connect with them by letting them help me and gain life skills also. I've noticed that many times they copy what they learn while helping me cook into their role playing and I thought I'd make them some pretend food they can use in the play time! The pattern has three parts and the stuffing comes out! They love that part!

Supplies

Yarn: Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8 Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8 in colors White (01), Tomato (40), Parakeet (103)

Size C crochet hook

Two 6mm safety eyes or embroidery thread 

Stuffing

*Yarn needle

 Scissors

Fabric markers (optional)

Embroidery thread in green and orange (optional)

 

Abbreviations

This pattern is written in US terms

mc= magic circle 

sc= single crochet

sl=slip

st=stitch

ch= chain

inc=increase 

dec=decrease

With red yarn

 

mc

 

Rnd 1. 6sc in mc [6]

Rnd 2. inc in every st [12]

Rnd 3. *1 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** around [18]

Rnd 4. *2 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** around [24]

Rnd 5. *3 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** around [30]

Rnd 6 -12 (7 rnds). sc around  [30], cut off, use the invisible finish and then secure the end of the yarn.

 

* place the eyes between Rnds 8-9, 3 sts apart or embroider them there. Also embroider a white line down the outline of the eyes for extra cuteness. 

 

 

 

 

 

With green yarn

Rnd 1. 4sc in the mc

Rnd 2. *ch 5, turn, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook, sl st to the next 3 chs, sl st to the same st*, repeat ** 3 more times, cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

 

Sew in the center of the top.
